Toulouse, September 22, 2026 – Based in Toulouse since its inception, NetExplorer is becoming Voltn. After more than fifteen years of steady, controlled growth, the software provider serves 2,000 client organizations, supports 300,000 daily users, and manages over 500 million files. This new identity does not signal a change in direction, but rather a clarification of a strategy built around a single domain: the file. With Voltn, the company now aims to scale this expertise across Europe, focusing on functional depth and interoperability. 

File expertise built in Toulouse

The story began in Toulouse in 2007, when Bertrand Servary, then a young student, developed a solution to simplify file sharing in his spare time, creating a WeTransfer… before WeTransfer ! Since then, NetExplorer has gradually deepened its expertise around one single object: the corporate file.

Storing, sharing, co-editing, signing, validating, tracking, and retrieving: Voltn now covers all these use cases, including in environments subject to strict security and compliance requirements.

The name change aligns the brand with what the company has become: NetExplorer made files its business; Voltn makes them its identity. Same company, same team, same infrastructure: the expertise developed in Toulouse over the past fifteen years is now ready to scale.

"We are deeply attached to Toulouse, and this is where we built our technology. But being French or from Toulouse cannot be the only reason to choose us: if we want to become a benchmark, our technology must be able to convince a CIO in Paris, just as it does in Berlin or Madrid. With Voltn, that is the ambition we are now pursuing," explains Bertrand Servary, CEO of Voltn

Turning hyper-specialization into a strength

While major digital suites tend to multiply their services and use cases, Voltn is taking the opposite approach: focusing on a single domain and developing greater depth within it. 

" We aren't looking to compete with the giants by replicating their model with a generalist suite that does a little bit of everything ", continues Bertrand Servary. " Our business is files: rather than adding new features indiscriminately, we choose to focus on our specific expertise and take it as far as possible. We are convinced that a European player can compete with much larger rivals if it provides truly superior expertise in its field. "

Another of Voltn's strengths: an agnostic approach, designed to adapt to existing environments rather than imposing an additional ecosystem. Voltn Share integrates with existing tools to secure file exchanges with external parties, without the need for migration. Voltn Workspace, meanwhile, can replace a file server or coexist with one to centralize and control an organization's files.

Toulouse as an anchor, Europe as the next step

This European ambition is already beginning to take shape: after initiating its development in Germany through a local partner at the beginning of the year, Voltn intends to quickly continue its expansion into other European markets.

The company, which announced at the start of the year that it was targeting 25% growth and 11 new hires in 2026, wants to demonstrate that its file expertise can win over customers well beyond its domestic market:

" We don't want to be chosen because we are a French alternative, but because, when it comes to files, our product better meets the need. It is this expertise, built in Toulouse, that we now want to bring to a larger scale ," concludes Bertrand Servary.
